A forced landing is a pilot’s worst nightmare. The forced landing
of an airliner, on the frigid wastes of Antarctica, is unimaginable. As
winter draws its white cloak over the continent, rescue becomes impossible;
hope slips away, and the ice entombs its victims. Years pass, generations
come and go: alien contact is made, and the world is subjugated. Now the
future depends on one man, and a young girl

There is a time far, far into the future where all that has happened
before is forgotten. A future where all people know of is a centuries long
war that raged even before the systems were colonized. Some believe that
having the knowledge of how it began can bring it to an end, but changing
the past has consequences that no one would have imagined

The future can never escape from the past no more
than situations can remain the same. Such too can be said of each and every
person. You and I are not always who we seem to be, even to ourselves let
alone to a stranger. But in some the secrets are even deeper, so deep that
even they are unaware of their place or of the course that fate has already
laid out before them.

The rainforest can be a dark and forbidding place. In the flood of life
no ground is left idle, vines and creepers hang thick from a canopy that
cuts out the sun. Creatures can be heard but not seen. The thick undergrowth
hides danger, so near yet out of sight. This is jungle, and left alone it
will smother and reclaim. Unless something poisons the soil beyond redemption;
then only decay survives: no creature or bird comes by, no plant will grow,
In such a place, unchanged through millennia, hate can fester in isolation;
its memory can endure as strong as reality, keeping it waiting; until unsuspecting,
its victim happens by. Can some sin can transcend time, reaching through
lust and hate, into the future. Can the undead take the place of new life
to live again, this time forever

We may never know where all the ancient voyages of exploration took
man. Many are a matter of record. Many would have lost contact, been assumed
lost and writen off as failures, and others maybe are best forgotten. One
day by chance or by re-examining the old text we may see that we who claim
to be first were following in others footsteps. Then will come the questions
on the reasons for the desertion. Then we will need to know if some things
abandoned to the rain forest really do need to be discovered
